WHAT THE COMPANY DOES

Finding exactly what you need for your period design or restoration project can be frustrating if you don’t know where to look.

With our network of research and deconstruction teams operating throughout the UK, we can direct you or source on your behalf any reclaimed materials.

Design Advice

If you are uncertain about the appropriateness of how to adapt or incorporate a period feature, you will find a wealth of experience to guide you in design and technical matters.

We like you to visit and enjoy discovering MASCo’s diverse architectural elements on display; wander freely or avail yourself of our guided support and advice which we are happy to tailor to your requirements.

Restoration & Conservation

Many architectural elements whilst appropriate for incorporation in a period home or garden often need adaption and, in some cases, restoration. At MASCo, you are offered extensive conservation, restoration and technical support to modify and achieve your desired effect.

We’ll work direct with you or collaborate with your architects, designers and builders and offer site visits to talk through your drawings and plans, reassuring you that the materials used are appropriate and legally feasible. Creating a sustainable future through building preservation.

Floors, doors and hardware

When restoring your period property, give special attention to the exciting finish you can achieve with good floors, doors and hardware. Ask for our advice if you’re unsure which floor, wood or stone, and finishes are appropriate for your environment; download our technical guides for helpful tips on fixing, finishing and maintaining a beautiful floor.

Doors

We manufacture and supply bespoke cottage soft and hardwood doors from genuine reclaimed materials. You will also find a range of feature doors, these are subject to availability and reclamation projects in progress.

Floor finishes

Given the very real environmental consequences, it is important that ecologically sensitive products are considered before adopting the use of chemical and toxic finishes, some of which are more traditional but entirely unacceptable in this day and age. Consult our technical specification and showroom staff who will advise you of best practice and a range of suitable, earth-friendly options.

Hardware

You will find it increasingly difficult to obtain original antique hardware, so we offer a range of bespoke and reproduction product lines to reinforce traditional items carried in stock.

Oak flooring

Antique and hardwood floors have become the ultimate design signature in recent years. Large stocks are always available in our dedicated oak flooring showroom.

Pine flooring

Victorian and Edwardian pine flooring has always been popular and is carried as standard in stock. You can view the complete range in our dedicated wood flooring showroom, including Yellow pine, Douglas fir and Deal.

Reclaimed flooring

Reclaimed oak and elm is almost impossible to source on a dependable basis and, as such, is at a premium. MASCo can supply you with traditional oak, reclaimed oak, re-sawn from traditional reclaimed beams as and when available.

If you are changing your floor, let us know, as we may buy or exchange your old floor.

Stone flooring

Stone flooring comes in all forms: traditionally, Cotswold limestone flag with original antique patination is the most highly regarded of all floor finishes. Portland and York stone are also usable as interior finishes, but more normally slate and limestone.

Bathrooms and radiators

More attention is given to the design of bathrooms than probably any other space in the home. At MASCo, discover the largest range of genuine reclaimed bathroom ware in two dedicated showrooms.

We have a wide range of original radiators on display; our website stock is coming soon. Please contact us for details.

Bathroom accessories

With so much emphasis upon designing the bathroom space, accessories become more important. Soap dishes, mirrors, ceramic shelves and splash backs, all enhance good design. A variety of toilet roll holders awaits you as well.

Baths

The space of the bathroom has been transformed from an incidental room to a principal design statement and a haven to enjoy in any modern home.

We have a wide range of period cast iron roll-top and plunger baths for sale at our Cotswold showroom. Our website stock is coming soon. Please enquire for details.

Radiators

Radiators, for providing background heat or as towel rails come in many sizes; in our dedicated radiator showroom, choose from a wide variety of cast iron period styles and finishes.

Ask our advice on all aspects of original, refurbished and reproduction radiators. And download our technical guide to help you calculate the size and quantity required to comfortably heat any room.

Sinks and basins

The frustration of modern bathroomware contrasts with the pleasure of a traditional porcelain sink that is deeper, more practical and just looks stylish!

At MASCo's Cotswold bathroom showroom between Cirencester and Stroud you'll find the biggest stock of period sinks and basins in every style.

Taps

As with so many elements of design, the detail of taps defines period and style. Whether you require Art Deco elegance or Victorian functionality, MASCo carries a wide range to suit any bathroom.

Toilets and bidets

Bidets: like Baker days at school, everybody knows what a bidet is, but nobody knows what it's for.

From Art Deco, chisel based WC’s to hardwood seats, low and high level cisterns, MASCo can supply you with a complete range of original period fittings and associated accessories.

Landscape and building materials

MASCo has worked on major garden projects. MASCo will originate materials from all over Georgia as a principal supplier of reclaimed flagstones, Cotswold stone roofing tile, and traditional construction materials.

Building material accessories

Having begun the process of using traditional and reclaimed materials, you will be reassured to know that MASCo carries large stocks of complementary building accessories, such as lime putty and lime wash.

Cotswold roofing tile

As suppliers to the Oxford Colleges and many period properties of traditional roofing materials, large inventories of both Tetbury and Stonefield Cotswold roofing tile are available.

Cotswold stone

Cotswold Stone comes in all types of texture and in many different tones. You can use it internally as flagstone flooring and externally has excellent building properties. Fine Bath ashlar stone together with Portland and Purbeck limestones are often misrepresented as Cotswold stone; our experts at MASCo will explain the differences and identify and match any building stone you require for your project.

Granite setts

Granite setts, traditionally found in street paving, are durable with interesting design options and a range of colour varieties for your pathways, drives and courtyards.

New flagstones

With a wide variation of colour and large fern-like leaf fossils, this stone is much harder than limestone and with a slightly riven finish. Extremely hard wearing, when laid it makes a wonderful feature floor.

These are ideal for garden paving, patios, pathways and conservatories, and are also well suited for internal use in cottage and barn conversions.

Quarry tiles, pavers and edging

Quarry tiles, pavers and edging are all archetypal design elements from the Victorian period and you will find a wide range of finishes and sizes available at MASCo, including terracotta, Staffordshire blue and salt glaze.

Reclaimed bricks

Your period restoration requires attention to detail and bricks are no exception. Defined for their historical purpose, you may need Tudor, Georgian, Victorian or Modern.

You may need smooth faced or soft reds, engineering bricks or decorative pavers. You will find all varieties in stock at MASCo.

Reclaimed flagstones

Probably the principal garden element of many schemes over the last 20 years has been northern flagstone, generically called York, and which we have been sourcing and supplying in stocks of great quantity and quality since our beginning.

It is not exaggeration to say that, at MASCo, you will benefit from the best York flagstone in Britain.

Reclaimed timbers

The most frequent complaint that craftspeople make is that modern timber is singularly unstable and poorly presented. Using traditional reclaimed wood guarantees stability and often greater character of the grain.

Large dimensional timbers are always available. Our website stock is coming soon.
